Sexual Health

Sexually transmissible diseases are infectious diseases where the primary mode of transmission is through sexual contact. They are a major public health concern throughout the world as they can often be asymptomatic and may increase the risk of other life threatening conditions.

Our doctors understand that sexually-related health matters are a very sensitive topic, and you can depend on the professionalism of our doctors and staff and be assured that your privacy is protected at all times. We ensure all of our patients are free to speak openly about personal issues such as sex and sexuality, smoking and drugs in order for them to recommend the best type of treatment for you.

Whether you require a general sexual health check-up or need professional medical advice on managing or treating an infection or disease, our team of doctors will be able to assist you.

Sexual Health Services

Our well-equipped clinic allows our doctors to perform testing within the centre, including diagnostic procedures through blood tests, urine test, body fluid sample tests, and specific screening tests.

Among the services we provide at our sexual health clinic include:

  • General sexual health exams
  • Tests for sexually transmitted infections (including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomonas, hepatitis, syphilis, and genital herpes)
  • Tests for HIV/AIDS
  • Treatment/medication to cure chlamydia and other types of STIs
  • Certain types of preventative vaccinations, including Hepatitis B
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Safer sex and general sex education information
  • Referrals for additional services

Regular screening is advisable for early detection and appropriate management. Although there are no set intervals, it is advisable to get tested prior to commencing a new relationship and after having unprotected sex. Remember that using condoms is the best way of preventing spread of sexually transmitted infections.

We strongly advise people to get tested immediately if they suspect that they have contracted an STD or STI – an early detection of any serious sexually transmitted disease can help reduce your suffering, transmitting to others or even save your life.
